1 To my lovely mom, From Amie
My mom is the epitome of motherly love. Growing up in a traditional Asian household, motherly love was not expressed in physical ways or by saying “I love you”s.
Nevertheless, my mom never showed any less love.
Love in my house was always expressed in other ways. Like asking “Are you hungry? Did you eat yet?” every two hours; freaking out when I felt just a teeny tiny bit sick; wanting me to stay as close to home as possible for college.
My mom is the strongest and smartest woman I have ever met. She is the pillar of strength and perseverance in our family.
She sacrificed so much for my brother and me by leaving the world she knew to provide the best for us. She is and will forever be my inspiration. I love you, mommy!

2 To my brave and lovely mother, From Wenqian
My mom is an ambivalent bearer of traditional Chinese culture. She took brave action to break through the career and gender stereotypes in the 80s Chinese society.
Thank you for leading through your journey. Especially as you pursued a career that did not match public expectations.
I know your choices were essential to grant me my freedom. Now, I get to pursue the fields that I also truly enjoy, instead of worrying too much about career options I don’t truly care for.
Miss you lots. See you in the summer.
