#BubbleTeaIsLife! Most of my peers (walking out of the library with a tired mind and body) will agree. Without the curing warmth of bubble tea, I couldn't survive the chilly NYC winter.
The history of bubble tea is older than most people think: it originated in the early 1980s in Taiwan. Now, bubble tea is more popular than coffee (in China) because of its flavors- varying from smooth and fruity to rich and woody. Nowadays, more and more bubble tea shops have emerged across NYC. They are improving their recipes to compete in the bubble tea market. As a self-proclaimed boba-expert, here are my top 4 cups of favorite bubble tea in NYC!

1 1st Cup: Brown Sugar Boba + Pearl with Cream Mousse at Tiger Sugar
I will never forget the first time I gulped down this smooth, fresh brown sugar milk tea and chewed the delicious bubbles of Tiger Sugar. After 30 minutes of waiting in a cue on the Main Street of Flushing, I finally got what I wished for. Tiger Sugar use s preservative-free tapioca, which is made fresh every four hours, using condensed milk and cream to create a cool, tiger-stripe-looking effect. Believe me, this cup of “Tiger drink” will definitely energize you for the rest of your day.

2 2nd Cup: Golden Phoenix Cheese Tea at Debutea
The 3-minute walk from the library plus its authentic tea flavor boosts the ranking of Debutea in my heart. I have committed a lot to Debutea – becoming their VIP, trying out their new products, and recommending it to all my friends. Debutea never lets me down, and it has become one of the top 10 drink brands in NYC. My all-time favorite and never-go-wrong cup is the Golden Phoenix Cheese Tea. Thick, rich, and woody, this cup reminds me of a tranquil day of immersing myself in a forest without any daily distractions.

3 3rd Cup: Signature Fruit Tea at YiFang
Originating from Taiwan, Yi-Fang has a beautiful founding story: a Taiwanese family honored their grandmother’s nickname to cherish her memory. They insist on using fresh and seasonal fruits and promise to never add chemically concentrated juice. Yi-Fang puts real fresh fruits- apples, pineapples, passion fruit, and strawberries- into every drink. The freshness they offer ensures the most energizing way to start your day!

4 4th Cup: Longan Jujube Tea at KungFu Tea
Both longan and jujube are traditional Chinese healthy ingredients. When it comes to that time of the month (for ladies), a cup of longan and jujube tea from this Taiwanese brand is the remedy. This hot drink has a particular curing effect that takes away all the discomfort.
